What Happens After the Last Song?
You rehearse the songs. Dial in the sound. Show up early for soundcheck. But there’s one thing no band can plan for: the moment music actually lands in someone’s life.
After last night’s show with Hand of the Tribe at Toad’s Place in New Haven, I got a message from a dad in the crowd. He’d brought his family out — including his youngest son, a kid who loves music and talks about playing drums. A kid who’s been having a hard time, especially at school.
He left the night with a signed setlist, a drumstick, and a conversation he won’t forget.
His dad reached out to say thank you. Said it meant a lot to them.
It meant a lot to me too.
This is why I play. Not just for the songs — but for the moments that only happen when you show up fully and leave space for a real connection.
Thanks to everyone who came out last night. You remind me why this is worth it.
